Default Is this car a 35th Anniversary car?

I am looking at buying a 2002 that the seller claims is a 35th Anniversary car. How can I tell if he is telling the truth? It seems to make a big difference because when I check the value on www.kbb.com, the 35th anniversary designation makes the car worth a couple thousand dollars more. If he is not telling the truth about what car he is selling, I can negotiate a better price.

Thanks!

All 2002 can be considered a 35th anniversary. However, there was a 35th anniversary package for the SS Camaro (SS only). It consisted of silver stripes, black hood scoop, 35th anniversary painted on the side and stitching in the seats.

Thanks for the info. I have been out of the Camaro market since the late 90's when I had a 93 z28 and could not remember what the anniversary package included. It does look like the seller is asking too much.

Just a note... All the 2002 cars came with a dash plaque that said 35th anaversary but the only "True" anaversary package cars were the ones like the picture above. The plastic dash plaque makes the car worth nothing more than the average Camaro. There were no changes to the car from 2000-2002 so they all hold about the same value.

Its been posted here a few times but I can not find the link. All the true 02 35th cars have their vin number registered. I think you can check it out at SLP. Might take a few phone calls.

That 35th Anniversary package on the SS makes for a really *****in' looking car! I love the orange color and those wheels. I think maybe I need to get me my *own* 4th generation Camaro since me daughter has taken off with hers and doesn't seem to be coming back.

Actually thats not quite true. Yes the "SS Anniversary Package" does add significant value to the car. Every 2002 Camaro is CONSIDERED a 35th Anniversary Edition REGARDLESS of the Anniversary package. Just because a '02 Camaro isn't a SS with an Anniversary Package doesn't change the fact that it was made in '02. Which means a '02 Camaro is a 35th Anniversary Edition regardless. Therefore the 2002 Camaros are worth more than the '00 and '01. The 2002 Base, Z28, and SS are worth more than there predecessors because they are the last of the breed. According to GM and a few other sources a 2002 Base and Z28 are worth more than a '00 or '01 Base or Z28. Although not a huge difference in price the '02's are worth more than there predecessors because of the year they were released. There are also differences between the '02 and the '00 and '01. For example the '02 came with all wheel disc brakes where its predecessors did not. Although that was a factory option it was not "standard". According to KBB a '02 L36 Camaro is worth $1000 more than a '01 L36 Camaro with the same mileage.

Sorry for correcting you but the '02 SLP 35th Anniversary Camaro was only released in red.

Looks orangish to me. Maybe it's a tomato red? It sure isn't fire truck red like my 94.

There's a beautiful 2002 SS Anniversary Edition example in that "red" color on ebay right now. 16k miles, t-tops, and looks pristine. At a Ford dealer in Akron, OH. Asking $22k IIRC.
