RE: cant remove harmonic balancer
its the lt1, yes i am using the right puller it said harmonic balancer on the package when i bought it! i think i am going to buy a heavier duty one and give it a try. i don't neccessarily care what happens to the balancer. cause i am going to buy a 383 externally balanced kit off eaglerod.com comes with new flywheel and balancer.

RE: cant remove harmonic balancer
You need to unbolt the 3 bolts holding the balancer to the hub, and the balancer should separate without too much effort. To remove the hub itself is a little tricky as the hub has an internal flange that bottoms out on the nose of the crank.
1) Remove the balancer
2) Partially remove the center bolt holding the hub to the crank, back the bolt out about 1/2". The idea is to let the screw end of the pullerseat onthe head of the center bolt.
3) Pull on the hub until the internal flange meets the head of the center bolt
4) Back the center bolt out some more and repeat procedure
5) Keep doing that till the hub is completely out.
Now that the hub is out you can see why if you completely removed the center bolt, the screw on the puller would just bottom out on the flange of the hub and try to rip the ears off the hub.
