wow i wish mine was that easy you have to take the alternator and its braket off the smop pump bracket and some more bolts that are on their it sucked

use high temp rtv. look the plastic elbow over real good. replace if theres any question on it.

LOL! I hear ya! I remember removing a water pump from a 82 or 83 Olds 88. That was a royal pain and an all day job! Back then, my tool box basically was an adjustable wrench and hammer!

wow no tools it was a 3 hr job in and out for me with all the tools you need

Well got it done. I used water pump sealant, it said it is made specifically for water pump gaskets and is water resistant....

If I didn't have to go to the parts store to get the sealant it would of been a 1 hr job. There is just so much room in the front of the engine bay on the 3.8's that it is easy as pie.

Crabby, What plastic elbow are you referring too ? I already have everything put back together but I can always go back and look.

I am old school, I just use a thin layer of wheel bearing grease.

There is a plastic elbow that is very well hidden under the intake manifold. It runs from under the neck of the intake manifold to the belt tensioner. Unless you have a mirror, it is about impossible to see from the top. You could probably see it from underneath the car though. They have a habit of cracking, and leaking. It can almost make it look like you have a water pump leak.
