yes it does have traction control and the old calipers where the oraginal ones from the day the car was new. the new calipers where cardone select calipers with new brackets. is it possible that the wheel bearing is bad and causing up and down moving even though its not making any noise

Make sure there isn't any rust scale build up on the axle flange, and back side of the rotor, and that the rotor is sitting evenly against the hub. A layer of scale will put the rotor closer to the bracket.

take some pictures if your taking it apart. compare the old brackets with the new ones, may have some differences. here is some info if you haven't seen it yet https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...56/#post639140

Also may want to look at the C clip holding the axle in place. If broken or missing the only thing holding the axle in place would be the rotor and the caliper bracket.

^^^ i think pete may have it. pull that center section cover off and have a look or while you have the brakes off pull on the axle. probably a good time to change the gear oil in the rear end anyways.

yeah ive been wanting to do the gear oil for a while now. it looks like its going to be in the 50's next weekend so im going to change the C clips and axle cross shaft pin. I already have them from another Camaro I had so why not just replace them while its apart. im also going to do the axle bearings and seals while im there. I have one more question I picked up some Valvoline High-Performance 80W-90 Gear Oil which says it for limited slip diffs. do I still need to put the additive in the oil with this stuff?

If it is Valvoline SynPower Full Synthetic Gear Oil, I have never found anything from Valvoline saying it has the Limited Slip additives. All it says it is recommended for conventional and Lim-Slip. IMO you need to add the GM additive.
