Bypassing the "Brake to Shift" function
hey guys, i'm looking at getting a 1994 Camaro (3.4 v6) with the 4L60E. the only problem it has right now is that the car will not come out of park. the button on the shifter works fine. i know on some cars there is a button you can press inside the center console to get past this, but i don't know if the 4th gens have it. is there any way to bypass this???
any help would be greatly appreciated:icon_wink: |
on most cars with the shifter being on the floor they most likely have that but you might wanna look at the back of your brake pedle to make sure that there is not a sensor back there that you could easly bypass by connecting the two wires together...i had to do that on my 90z28 to get it to start( it was a stick and it was on the clutch pedle but might be one on your brake pedle idk)

sometimes the button itself will not fully depress, especially if the car has a lot of dirt build up under the shifter. i have also seen coins stuck in there to cause this. i think there might be an electrical connection to the brake light switch to unlock the shifter. i hear a click on my 95 blazer, but the locking mechinism is broken anyways. also verify the trans will go into gear if you move the lever underneth

most auto cars mid 90's up had a switch on brake pedal.brake had to be pushed to take it out of park
