Brake Problems
 

I have a 93 3.4, which still has the drum brakes on the rear, and disks on the front. I've been having some problems lately with early morning braking, and abrupt braking. In the morning, the brakes grab like a mother and squeals (Only after it has rained out). It does this for a couple minutes, but then it's fine. The other problem I'm having is when I have to stop quickly.. It sort of shimmy's to a stop.. Pulsating along the way.

What do you guys think it might be, and how difficult is it to just go ahead and replace both wheel cylinders and calipers?

The shimmy/pulsating is probably caused by warped front rotors or out of round rear brake drums, and the squalling and grabbing is more common with drum type brakes. It would be a good idea to replace the front rotors and pads, machine or replace the rear drums, install new rear shoes, and all the retracting springs and adjusters. Of course, if you find any brake fluid leaks, they will need to be addressed. There is no need to replace either the calipers or wheel cylinders unless they are leaking, frozen in place by corrosion, or failing to retract.

could also be oil or brake fluid on the brake pads or the abs could be failing. does the brake peddle feel like its doing stuff on its own?

I'm also having another problem, I don't know if it could be related at all, but I get a check gauges light and the only thing out of whack is the voltage is low. I took it to advanced auto parts, they scanned it, and said all was fine, but my cranking amps look low? (was 2 amps)
