Bilstein HD shocks?
 

When I look up shocks for my car on some of the car part websites, the only option for Bilstein that comes up is the HD, heavy duty. I've heard people talk about the SLP, but not this shock. Is it better left for pickup trucks and not the camaro?

I have a 98 v6 camaro, and assuming that I get the transmission put back in and the rear brakes done, I'm going to need to replace the shocks. I'm not sure how long I'll be holding on to the car, so I don't want to go crazy.

I don't think the shocks have ever been replaced (150K), or at least not in the last 75K or so. It's my daily driver, so I don't want to make the ride too rough, but I wouldn't mind considering giving up a little ride quality for a step up in handling. But I'm sure that anything I replace the shocks with will improve both.

I'm looking at prices on the gabriels, KYB gas-a-just, KYB GR2, KYB-AGX, Tokico, and Bilstein HD. I have stock springs. If I get spendy, I might consider a 1" lowering spring like hotchkis.

Any advice on shocks to stay away from or look at? Koni's are out unless they're having a buy one get three free sale.

I run the Bilsteins on my truck, camaro and my Monte SS before I sold it. Great shock. Worth the money. Bilsteins or Koni is the way to go.

There are two Bilsteins, the HD and SLP versions (not much difference, according to Strano, the only difference in the SLP is the rear shock with 5% more rebound control), the former has a lifetime warranty, and the later 1 year. **Neither should be used with lowering springs! Unless you want them to be replaced in about a year** The warranty should not be an issue, according to Strano, and the SLP versions are cheaper shipped.

I am gonna go with Bilsteins on my RS, and Koni's on my SS...
