Better 60ft (red light intersection launches) times?

Hi All,

Been thinking about ways to improve launches without adding horsepower.

Stock '02 V6. 3.42 open rear end, stock wheels/tires.

Your thoughts? Any sub $1k mods/upgrades? My friend who helps me and I are old, and have no lift in his driveway for safe and easy trans. and rear end work, so consider labor costs.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas:icon_eddie:

If getting the tires to hook to the street is a problem, then put on wider, stickier rear tires and install a limited slip. That more than shoots your sub $1k budget though.
Other things you can do:
Move the battery from the front to the back.
Gut the interior/remove anything that's not nailed down to reduce weight.
Go on a diet.

lol. Swapping the rear end from a 4th gen SS is not more than $300 or so, but a new LSD is near it. Will a V6 spin the tires? and sub $1k was for an individual mod.

That nitrous work with stock pistons and cam?

craby 07-03-2015 10:36 AM

50 shot should be ok unless the engine is getting really tired.

My car has 70k mi, don't think its quite tired! How much is a nitrous bottle fill?

I have an auto, stall converter, or is the stock one better with the stock cam?

you got nitrous on a v6,about $50.00 to fiil up a bottle ,you don't want to harm your engine ,I am also thinking red light launches can cost money ,unless its like 3am an the right place or its the track ,could cost you more for tickets ,hear is nh they can get you for up 1500,00 an fines 4 diffrrent tickets ,for acting like your going to race ,start showing us some pictures of this car,kit can be had for 300.00 or so then 300.00 to install ,I got more out of mine from looks alone ,people say you got nitrous like james bond

Around here driving the speed limit makes you look like Richard Petty at Darlington (except a school zone, where you look more like Milka Duno), so tickets aren't a big problem. Last time I got stopped for blowing past someone, I told the officer I was going the speed limit, and he said "be careful" and got back in his car.

$50 is cheap! How many shots is that?

The kits from Summit for fuel injections were around $400 - 500. I can't install it myself?
