I've got an annoying rattle that I can't figure out where it's coming from, it's a clearance issue somewhere with the borla setup, didn't have it without it, curious if there is a common point where the setup typically rattles on the 4th gen.

 

Sounds like it could be a loose pipe. Try tightening every clamp as far as you can.

none on mine either. Make sure everything is fitting together correctly and that the clamps are catching both pipes at every union.

 

are you missing any nuts or bolts. may have one in there bouncing around. i had one in the header collector on one side, had fallen down from up top and managed to get into the cubby where the pipes all come together. had to find a tiny telescoping magnet to get it out.

 

I have one, and there is some rattle from the heat shielding vibrating on the passenger side rear -- haven't looked into it yet. Its tubing also hits the body on bumps which is really annoying -- need to do some tweaking when the weather gets warmer...

 

Yeah, i have a borla in my 96 z28. I have the rattle as well. At first I thought it could be a bolt or something, but I checked everything and there is still the rattle.

I read other places that it could be the muffler hitting the heat shield... it doesn't sound like that kind of rattle but i'm going to check it out. i'll let you know how it goes.

 

Was never really too impressed with Borla, I have Spin Tech on my 96 Z and it sounds great and no rattles. We had the same problem with my sons car and it turned out to be the heat shield on the cat.
