Default Anyone do the Fuel Pump Access Hatch?

I was thinking of buying a Firebird with a bad fuel pump. I know the easiest way to change the pump is through an access hatch. The instructions look pretty straight forward, but I was wondering if anyone has ever done it, and what are their thoughts, memories and tips.

Thoughts: Simple, easy, Glad I did it because the cheap airtec pump failed a month after it was installed. 2nd Replacment took 1/2 an hour.

I wonder if anyone has done a true sealed hinged access door, as opposed to a riveted and moisture/vapor sealed door. Not likely as it would be a pain in the butt, but could be a nice kit some enterprising entrepreneur could sell...

I made the hatch pump replacement attempt on my 91 (later found 3rd gens don't have disconnects like the 4th gens). I made a cover and used the silicone/screw attachment method. With a screw gun, you could get it back off in a minute, but on average shouldn't be necessary to do again unless you put in a cheapo pump.

I did it, as much as I don't like chopping up my Camaro's body. I really didn't wanna drop my tank though so I did the hatch method. It's not hard just make your cuts straight and seal it up properly.
