Another ignition ?

I've been having trouble about a month now and didn't have the money to fix it yet. I want to make absolute certain before I spend all that money on a new opti. I get the code 16 and code 36. I know what they mean and have checked the voltage on the 2 wires for these at the connector and at the opti end of it and it was good. What threw me off is I didn't drive it any this past weekend, when I got in it monday morning it cranked up perfect and ran perfect all the way to work (about a 15 min drive). Got off work, ran perfect the whole way back home. Got in it Tues morning cranked up great, ran great, sputtered one time as I was almost to work. After work I was driving down the road and it went back to running like crap with the SES light on again. Sometimes it runs good with no SES light but they're short trips, mostly its on though. Would a bad opti act like this? Is there any way to check into this further just to make sure? I really dont want to buy a new opti and it NOT be the problem

could be u have moisture in the opti that has built up and when the motor sets for a while it dissipates to the bottom of the opti. when the car is warmed it becomes humidity again and spreads thew the opti. it may be that u could take the cap off and dry it out and that would fix your problem. the thing with that is once the moisture gets into the circuits it begins it destruction. it could last a couple weeks or a couple yrs.

Well it has been rainy here every day for the past month. Thats basically when the problem started. I did find that it has a vented opti but no hoses ran to it since its a 93 so thats something I need to fix very soon. Could be the moisture is coming in through those holes and doing what you said. Maybe fogging up the optical part. Thanks craby
