Default Adding Cruise Control

I just bought a 2002 Z28 stripper, my first Gen 4. It has no power options and no cruise. It does not have traction control. I want to add cruise control but my car doesn't seem to be pre-wired. Anybody know how I can add cruise? I know I need the module and cable, brake switch, and control switch, but I don't know how to wire it without being pre-wired. Chevy dealer says some are pre-wired, some are not. They wanted to charge me $85 to tell me yes or no. I looked all over behind the driver's side headlight area and found nothing so I assume it is not. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you get a Police Camaro? If you still have the data sticker on the door look for the code B4C or have the dealer run your VIN for your codes and see if that is there. As far as I know only the police were not wired for cruise. Your computer may or may not have the software for cruise, there may be more than just some simple wiring to get cruise to work properly.

Massey, there is no B4C code. Maybe I just don't know what to look for but I have looked all over around the driver's side headlight area and found nothing as far as an unused electrical plug. I have seen pictures of the cruise control module servo and did not see one on my car. BTW, as a veteran, I appreciate your signature.

This thread here has a pic of the cruise module locations for LS1 vehicles.

The V6 cars from 99-02 didnt have a module for cruise as the computer handled the job with the throttle by wire.

OK, I kept looking for a while and finally found the cruise control module wiring. It was for some reason taken out of the plastic enclosed compartment and zip tied to other wiring conduits running along the frame. I then removed the steering column cover and found the adapter for the cruise lever, and finally found the adapter for the brake pedal switch. Now to figure out the parts and then figure out how to put them on.

So the cable I need has been discontinued. I have looked through every salvage yard in a 60 mile radius and the parts are either gone, broken, or don't fit my car. Anybody know a good place I can get the cruise servo module and cable for a 2002 LS1 without traction control?

speedo shops should be able to fabricate you a new cable that will do the job you need.

The parts manager at my local Chevy dealer made some phone calls and found what I need in a little known salvage yard in the middle of nowhere. Now I'm cruisin', literally.

WOOHOO congrats!

Everything worked plug and play? No need to flash the computer to accept the CC module?
