Default AC issues

I have been having some issues in my 96 Z28 with the AC. IT started with a weird thing to when i would push on the gas the AC would turn off. When id let go, it would come back on. this was going on for a few days. Now the AC does not work from the top vent nor the heater. the lower vents on the floor and the windshield defroster vent both still work fine. Just the main vents dont have any air flow.

I looked at the fuses and they where all good. I think that the cruse control and AC work on the same circuit And that still works if that helps any.

Thoughts?

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. I believe the position of the vent air is all determined by a series of small holes made inside the switch that allow vac to pass through to the lines to operate the direction of where the air should be coming from. Could be the switch itself or a break in any of the lines that control the AC vent positions.

Not yet! First check the vacuum hose on the intake for your climate control. If it is like my 94 it will be a black vac hose coming out of the big wiring harness on the passenger side of the engine bay before it branches off over the intake. The vac hose plugs into the intake with a rubber elbow also on the passenger side of the engine. Start here, it may have fallen or rotted off. Look for mouse nests in engine area, those little jerks like to eat the plastic vac lines.
