Default 99 Z28 trys to die! Help please!?

Hello everyone. Tiffany(my Z28) has been acting a little sick lately. She runs just fine as long as I am cruising or just moving in gear. But if I come to a light and sit for over about 3 minutes she idles down really low and tries to die. I have to give her a little throttle and then it sounds like something is restricting something somewhere and she just tries to die again immediatly after I let off of the throttle. But if I rev her up really good and high(about 4000RPM) She'll do just fine for a little while, until I sit for a long time again. Anyone have any advice or ideas! I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks!

This sounds like the IAC or Idle Air control. Basicly it handles the air going into the manifold at idle, keeping the engine running properly. THey are mounted on the throttle body near the TPS, it is usually a little black round cylinder. When they fail they will thow a code, but when they are dirty they will not. Take it off and see if it needs cleaning and use carb/choke cleaner on it if needed.

P.S. the TBW V6 cars do NOT have an IAC.

Man I'm not sure, but it kinda sounds like the IAC valve ( idle air control valve ) or MAP sensor ( manifold air pressure ). Can you get it scanned, even if the SES light is not on, may be dirty MAF ( mass air flow ) sensor too, it takes a special cleaner you can get from any parts store.

Did you clean the Throttle body yet with carb cleaner ? It can do the same thing if its dirty. Be careful doing it though, dont spray in in there, spray it on a shop towel and wipe it, so as to not dammage the throttle position sensor.

Here is the parts manual fo 93 to 2002 Camaro's ....you will need it for reference.

And this site has loads of info too !!! not for 1999 models but the principles will still apply for some things that are the same.

Thanks guys! I just got home and I didn't have time to do any checking or work on Tiffany today, but I will have all day after church tomorrow. I will plug her up to my Genysus diagnostics computer and see what she reads. If I don't get anything from that I will manually check the IAC, MAP, and clean the TB!

P.S. is there any possibility that it could be the EGR or anything related to it? Just thinking out loud. Thanks!

I don't have the rear O2s but I have the front 02s I think. I'll have to look. The car already didn't have the rear O2s when I got it.
