That is a great deal. You want to check the coolant system. If the overflow looks like mud flush it. Keep a close eye on the intake gasket right where in intake meets the head. It is a common failure point and that car has low enough miles it could still have the original gasket. The intake gasket is the biggest killers of these engines. Sometime when it fails it lets coolant into the oil and that wipes out all the bearings.

Other then that it should be a 200,000 mile car.

thanks gorn I will check it tomorrow ,I would imagine the gasket is easyer then an lt1 would be ,but I guess most recommend the valve covers an check for warpage ,I think its like 50.00 to have one machined ,no leaks on the car as of yet is a good sign ,I thought I did ok ,couse the guy said he had like 8 people that wanted the car ,I was on it 12 minutes after he listed it ,then called him. at 8am the next day sold

i would recommend just pulling the entire overflow out(just remove battery and its held on with like 1 or 2 bolts). on my 93 the metal section of the line running below the battery to the radiator was completely rusted/clogged shut. I pulled that whole line out of the overflow itself and took a metal coat hanger and went through both the rubber sections and the metal section best I could to clear any buildup/gunk in there. mine was really rusty and nasty(on all 3 of my cars, the 93 worst was completely clogged, the 98 was really bad but not totally clogged, and the 2002 which i recently sold was pretty gross) even on the outside. while you have it pulled out, might be a good excuse to take a brass or steel wire brush and brush the rust off it. mine cleaned it up really nice and even though no one will see it ever.. i know its nice and clean :P

but that is a NICE looking camaro there. i love the red and the sport appearance package is a great touch. good deal too!

You might be confusing valve covers with heads and intake gasket with head gaskets. Intake gasket fail because GM cheaped out on the gasket, There was a class action law suit and GM had to cover repairs 10 years 100,000 miles. For 3800 owners it is not IF the intake will go its when. Once a good Felpro gasket is installed the problem is gone and the intake gasket will out live the car. Head gasket failure comes from over heating or not maintaining the coolant system. If you change your coolant every 3 to 4 years even a car from the early 80's could have good head gaskets and not even need a flush. Most cars that have known head gasket failures even when they are maintained really have a head bolt issue that shows up in a leaking head gaskets.

I should add that the best way to check the intake for leaks is a pressure test. If you pressure test a coolant system cold you can find leaks before they become a real problem. Pressure testers can be borrowed from major parts stores and youtube is full of "how too" videos.

I have seen people bash 3800 on this site, I have own and driven all the 4th gens except the 3.4 and honestly the 3800 is a great A to B car. I have been driving the LS1 for a week now and with its stock exhaust I forget I have the V8, There really is not much driving difference until you get passed half throttle and in my daily commute that happens a few times a week at the most, darn traffic In my 5 speed car I beat 30 mpg in many warm weeks and that was running 70-75 MPH .

thanks guys I will have the mechanic check it out for me ,after I do so ,when I go.for inspection in about 10 days yes the car has a bit more rust under the hood then my 95 has ,all surface rust ,looks like the beach mabey lack .of washing the engine ,I think washing it would be good to carfully ,yes when I first got mine ,I thought theres no way I would get 6,but I was wrong ,you don't need an v8 to have fun driving a Camaro I had my v8n long enough to know they . all all be enjoyed ,I used to like the ford t bird v6 from the 90s they only made few v8 cars I think 4.6 ,actually this is calmer feel then the beast ,I will have him. run the test to,sound like you all are saying that'its possible I may do one before .there is a big problem ,my guy he does .foresters an toyots all the time ,couse there.head gasket goes so he has a lot of time in on it ,I guess I met some guys recommend if your right there ,just to do all the gaskets, hey could allways go with an lsx engine hehehe not yet, looks like it will need fro.nt brakes in .about 10.000 ,the back ones are good ,if I don't have to do much to it for 10.000 that would make me happy 10 months of driving it would pay for it ,anything past that is great actually to full seasons

Orange is the right color from the factory. It is called Dex cool. When that coolant gets old it turns into a brown sludge many people think is rust. Sounds like the car was taken care of. I am not looking for another Camaro but if I would have came across a well maintained 99 RS with 88k on it that looked that good for 2k I could not have passed it up. Heck your missing the front pc but the rest of the RS kit has to worth $400-500 alone.
