97 Z28 acceleration question

I finally got out to a country road today and stomped on the pedal! The first thing to happen was a momentary hesitation and then it went! Any ideas what might cause that slight stumble? LT1 engine with automatic trans in a 97 Z28 with 119,000 miles on it. Don't want to jinx myself but it runs fine otherwise. And it's not something I would pursue normally cuz this is just a fun convertible to drive around town, but I am curious.
Thanks!
Jeff

there will be a really small delay from the computer reacting. few things that can cause pause opti getting slow lol throttle position sensor may be jumping, map not happy, spark plugs, plug wires, fuel pressure regulator.

More than likely that spit millisecond the computer has to realize you stomped the throttle and it needs to kick down to the next lower gear.

Or traction control? does it have ASR switch on the dash?

Tipsy 03-25-2014 07:05 AM

Yes I do have ASR and it is turned on. Should it be off?

A million times yes. This is not a jab at you, but more of a general opinion, ASR and the like, are for people who never learned how to drive.

Cool! Thanks and no offense taken! I will give it a try.

I always turned off my ASR. Ever since jumping out in traffic once, hitting the gas and the car acting like I hit the brakes (not a good thing to happen), switching it off became automatic to me. I prefer having control of the car myself.

I deleted my ASR, because the module is ugly and heavy :P plus I like having my car to not be assisted electronically.

ASR isnt that bad!!! its so easy to spin the back up its nice having that backup surely... I know its really bad compared to modern traction/stability control system but its not a bad start considering the age of the vehicles
