It doesn't sound like it is choking on fuel. When I bypassed the relay and started the pump it did not need the starting fluid. It just started and turned off.

I want to note that it seems like it turns off in the same amount of time every time.

Sounds like you need to gut the aftermarket security system out of it, then. It's probably screwing up some signal to the oe security system.

How bad is this wiring boondoggle you have?

I tore out the aftermarket one and it still isn't starting. It is pretty bad. I will take pictures in the morning and post it here. I found some wiring diagrams and I might try to bypass the original one too.

I think I ran across a tutorial about that somewhere around here... search around for it and something should come up.
Try searching passkey as well... that may show some interesting threads.

I was looking and it says if it is vats it should not turn over and mine definitely starts for a few seconds. I do not know what it could be.

I can now confirm that someone has already done the bypass and it worked. If I disconnect his resistors it does not turn at all. I am still having the problem where the fuel pump is not receiving power and when I bypass the resistor and give it power the car turns off within a few seconds.

No more ideas from me. Good luck changing the BCM... how much is that going to cost you?

is there power getting to the fuel pump relay? if so is the relay putting out power? if the computer thinks the motor is not running it will turn the pump off after a few seconds.

The fuel pump relay is not getting power. Only when I manually connect the grey wire to the orange wire will the fuel pump turn on, but I know the actual relay is not the problem because I've tried like 3.

This sounds like VATS to me. I did some experiments with my 99 trying to bypass the VATS system. What I found is if you bypass the starter relay the car will start and run for a few seconds then die. The fuel pump would cut out after a few seconds. I bypassed the fuel relay and still the car only ran for a few seconds. I didnt investigate any further than that but my guess is the VATS system will also cut off the ignition. The only true way to disable the VATS system is to have a Dealer uninstall the VATS system from the BCM. Unfortunatly most Dealers will not do that for you.
