The air around Newark Airport will make anyone delirious, and there are enough fumes coming from the refinery that you could probably run a car with no gasoline. lol

higher octane fuel can improve power because of its special fuel chemistry that promotes improved combustion efficiency. Improved combustion efficiency means that more of the gasoline is being burned in the combustion chamber thus making more horsepower; less is being burned/expelled in the exhaust.
100 octanefact is you may need a higher octane fuel than you think, because your engine may be detonating despite you not being able to hear the knock. You have to look for signs of detonation by carefully inspecting the spark plugs. If you think you might have detonation, try the next higher octane with out making any other changes. You can not "over octane" an engine regardless of what others might say.
Yeah you get it now?

Prove it ^^ I want to see you site sources. While it is true that too much octane will not harm an engine, it also will not make any more power. And I do in fact know that my is not detonating because I use a data log program that reads my knock sensors and tells me if/when it knocks and how much timing is being pulled.

what he's saying is rite to a extent.......but certain engines can only run so much octane, then, the rest comes out the exhaust. correct?
like a 3.4 or 3.8 camaro is ment to run low grade fuel, and any higher grade is just a waste of money, mite imporve milage a wee bit, but no power, and is wasting 90% of the -more- octane u jus put in,
where as the z, and most imports(my mom's ridgeline is rated for it) are rated for premium, becuase, any lower IS bad for engine, but any higher, once again, is kinda a waste, unless ur set up for higher.

RE: 95 Camaro v6 3.8 =Jet Fuel 100 Octine?
The octane rating of a grade of gasoline is a measure of its detonation resistance. The higher the octane number, the better able the fuel is to resist detonation. Most engines in good condition will run fine on regular grade 87 octane fuel. But engines with high compression ratios (over 9:1), turbochargers, superchargers, or with accumulated carbon deposits in the combustion chamber may require 89 or higher octane fuel. Higher octane fuel only allows an engine to run under higher temperatures under advanced ignition timing under higer levels of compression without detonating. Modern engines with knock sensors ahigher octane fuel may make the engine run better if the knock sensors are retarding the ignition timing, which hinders performance. Running a higher octane than recommended by the manufacturer will not increase horsepower or torque unless your engine is experiencing knocking.

You think higher octane gets you power?! GUT YOUR CAT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS!! ugh!!! but beware, you may make the rear end touch the firewall if you're too heavy on the petal! ugh!!
