94 Z28 ABS Control Module location
My 94 Z28 5.7L has an ABS inop light on on the dash. The mechanic I took it too quoted me about $700 to replace the ABS control module as they stated it was faulty. This price included the cost of the part ($175 labor plus $475 for the part). The part number for the faulty part given to me was 16184358. I've ordered the part and plan to install it myself. Looking at the GM parts diagram it looks like it's supposed to be under the driver seat but I can't find it. Can anyone tell me for sure where this ECU is located in the car?

This is a brain twister. All early ABS module are next to the master cylinder. When I searched I saw factory drawings showing it in the passengers compartment. I know for a fact that the 1993 and the 1996 have nothing under the seats.
There is a shoebox post that shows it with the rest of the ABS system but you can not see it clearly. I then found a used module from Hawk that plainly shows 93-97 all the same, all in one assembly. This shows the module and the pump with the isolation and the dump valves all as one unit under the hood.
I wish you luck but having someone else diagnose a issue like this and then you swap the parts can end badly. In a car this old there is as much chance that the wiring or connector is the issue. You basically let the mechanic off the hook if it not the module. At this point he will just say you messed up the wires. That could even be right. Those wires are 30 years old and brittle. I do hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the info all! I'll remove the kick panel and knee panel on the driver side and see if it's stored in there. The mechanic is one I trust and I did pay a $175 diag. fee to them to test all the wires, sensors and circuits. Hopefully they're right and I can get this crossed off the "to do" list when the module arrives later this week.

I looked this weekend and the ABS module I'm looking to replace was not immediately under the driver side kick panel. Could it be behind the instrument cluster? I'd rather not remove the a pillar molding and the dash to be able to get the cluster out to check.

Do you have the module? Are you sure it is not just next to the pump? Looks to me that the module listed on Rock is the same as the on in the pump assembly just without the cover?

If not $175 Labor is a barging. Just the tabs braking off on the vents is more than $175 worth of aggravation. Last Dash I had out of a 3rg gen took me 5 hours and was not easy. It had be questioning my career choices .

There is not a module in the master cylinder/booster area but there does appear to be a smaller more square one attached to the ABS pump where the lines go to from the master cylinder. It's the wrong shape and size and only has 1 connector not 2 like the replacement module I have.
