94 camaro v6 engine replacement
 

i have a 1994 Camaro I think it spun a bearing .should I rebuild it or go to the local junk yard and get a engine from there?

The problem with junk yards is everything is going to be 20 years old and will need rebuilt. Re manufacture motor would most likely be the cheapest way to get the car reliable. Rebuilds on high mile, damaged motors can get very expensive.

You should really think hard about if this car is worth the rebuild. Do you have an attachment to it? We have a couple of guys who have done rebuilds on 3.4's and you are going to spend about $2500 in machine shop and parts, assuming you are going to build it. Now add $500-700 to that for Hoses, belts, plugs, wires, water pump etc...

If you do not already have an attachment to this car you should look at this logically. I will assume you want a v6. You can buy low miles garage kept 3.4 for about $2000. But the 3.4 is a 165 hp in a 3600 lb car. It does not respond well to upgrades.

The other option and what makes the most sense money wise id to find a 93-97 Z28 what needs a hood, nose, and fenders. Swap on you good parts and you are down the road in a weekend.

If you really want to work on a Camaro and you want a v6 you should look at the 96 up 3800 cars. The 3800 is about 200 hp and can be upgrade to several different levels and it even gets better gas mileage. 3800 5 speed is a fun car to drive. Also with the 3800 you can use a motor out of a 2008 FWD car so if the motor needs replacing newer low miles used motors are easy to find.

I do not know what you paid for your 3.4 but it has been my experience that blown V6's are rarely repaired. They normally sell at very cheap prices as parts cars to fix V8s. The condition of the car does not seem to matter much. That means the 3800 and the 3.4s sell for about the same price with blown motors. Even back in 2009 when a nice 3800 V6 was 6-7k I bought a garage kept dealer maintained 96 5 speed with a motor knock for a $1000. See my build thread in my sig " 96 Camaro Build Thread"
