No it only shifts three times. almost got it up to 80 and still would not shift into final gear. I have tried to adjust the cable but really did not know how. It shifts really hard into second and kinda hard into third and then nothing. I have changed the trans once and had it out of the car atleast two more times was not a problem untill recently, all started when the radiator blew

That's right, a 4 speed automatic only shifts 3 times, NOT 4: 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 = 3 shifts. You may or may not "feel" the t.c. lock up (that's not a shift), and the rpm's will drop by maybe a couple hundred.

No I didn't. That's a gear change, not a "shift".

lol im not retarded I know all this. maybe i should have said it only shifts twice.... but in any case as i said before it wont shift into fourth. No rpm change at all. at 65 the rpms are around a little over 2500 which is too high its eating threw gas and to add to that it wont shift out of first again. Have not had the chance to adjust anything yet to see if it helps but like i said any input is appreciated. also when i say wont shift out of first i mean it wont shift at all.... like even if i shift it manually it stays in first.

That's good to know, we'll make a note of that for the future. lol
Questions like "why can't I feel my 4 speed auto shift 4 times" don't surprise me though. It's a logical thing to get out of the way.
So, are you saying instead of shifting 1-2-3 (no 4th) as before, it's now not coming out of first?
