4th gen front shock nut torque?
Hi everyone,
I'm putting together some new front shocks, springs, etc. on a 2002 Z28...I'm wondering about the correct torque for the top nut that holds the whole assembly together. I couldn't find it referenced in the GM shop manual, but read somewhere that 30 ft-lb is sufficient. Does that sound right, or should it be higher? It seems like this is a fairly critical thing to get right so the whole assembly doesn't spring/blow apart sometime.

I've seen some other model cars information say 30 ft-lbs, or 35, so I was wondering if that was an ok ballpark number. Seems a little low to me, but if that's fine for the shocks then so be it. I'm not sure why that fastener isn't documented in the GM shop manual for these cars...perhaps it had something to do with the dealer/GM special tools and their procedure.
Thanks for the reply.
