35 Anniversary Camaro

My car made a loud noise and it started smoking and running water out of the bottom. Thinking that my radiator just blew, my boyfriend poured water into the radiator and it all came out of the bottom of the motor a few seconds later. I was then thinking that the motor blew so i tried to start it and it started so now I am lost on what it could be. Does anyone know what this could be? Thank You, Beverly

Have you had a chance to look for where it is coming from?

If the coolant is coming out as fast as you can pour it in the radiator it has probably split.

What you described sounds very similar to what I have experienced when the radiator on my mothers car split, there was a loud pop the car stared smoking, well steaming, and we pulled over and coolant was leaking all over the place.

Beverly, where do you live? Is it freezing temps? Sounds like a freeze plug came out of the block. Was your coolant up to specs? Happened to me when I was a teenager back in the 70's and didn't know any better with my first car.

Most common issue would be just a loose or bad lower radiator hose at the engine but it could be many things. You need someone that knows about cars to check it out. DO NOT drive it. You will destroy your water pump and risk damage to the heads and head gaskets.

I had just bought a crate motor and had it installed about 5 months ago, so everything on the motor is new. I have not drove the car anywhere or even cranked it back up however, I sent a mechanic to pick it up today hopefully it is nothing too serious.

Most likely someone forgot to tighten a hose or one of the darn heater hose blew off.

For Beverly, it would be nice if it were this simple. Let's hope so.

I'm with Greencamaro1981, any news on what the problem was?
