Default 3.73s Installed

I got my car back around 4 o'clock pmyesterday from having 3.73Richmondgears installed and as soon as i rolled out of the parking lot and got up to about 45-50 mph i heard afaintwhining noise(my fear come true). Its not really loud but it is enough to annoy me because it shouldnt be doing it at all.
I went back to the shop and asked the guy about it and he told me that he drove it and didnt hear anything--(typical)--and thati should drive it until the first of the week and if it doesnt get better to bring it back. I asked him would it hurt it to drive it like that and he told me no it would just make noise.
He said that it may need time to seat itself.
Since yesterday i have put about 30 miles on it. I would think that any seating it would have to do would be done by now.
What do you guys think?? Could the gears possibly get better??(i doubt it)

Richmond gears are noted for that whine and not the fault of the installer.. They are racing gears and are cut for that purpose. Now learn to live with whine & noise because you can not do anything about it. One of the downnside of gear changes when you do not do any research.

The whine reallydoes not bother me as long as i knowit is normal. I know i drive aZ28 Camaro not a Cadillac.Even with the whine it is a lot quieter than the junk im used to driving.I just need to know that they are not going to self destruct on me.
I asked the guy if it was normal or if they were supposed to whine like that and he told me no, they are not supposed to whine and this is the gear he recomended.
Not saying that he is right because i really dont know the dude.
But if it is normal as you say Blackz87, Im happy with it.

I havnt really got on it hard yet but from what i do feel. It does feel like it has a lot morelow endtorque where it is needed.
And yes a gear change is the best money you can spend on your car if it is lacking in that area.
I believe the 3.73 gear will bring the powerband of the Lt1 into a more usable rpm range. I think I will be very happy with them.

newbi allert!!!!!!! jk. you know what man this has been covered many times but i think the easiest way to fix it is to get a whole rear axel out of a wrecked z28. maybe in the 200-400 doller range but its just a bolt in and go. plus you will get 3.23 or 3.42 gears instead of 3.08's!!!!!!!! this job requires you to take it in to do. so if you dont want to attempet it.
