2002 camaro AC issues
 

I have a 2002 camaro SS with about 110,000 miles. The AC has quit blowing cold air. My compressor and clutch seem to be working. I tried to re-charge the system, but I coud not get it to take any freon. Seems like it may have been fully charged? The air is blowing out the proper vents, just hot.

should be a door that flips to the ac/outside air side inside the housing under the glove box, it sounds like it isnt doin it. thing is im not sure if the 02 is the same as 93-97 so it may be vacuum or electric motor driven.

after looking the air goes threw the evaporator all the time and the heater core is the one that the air is controled on. still could be the door is not shutting off the air to the heater core and diverting it past. again i dont know if the 02 has a cable to control the door like mine or is vacuum or electric

my 02 is doing the same. can i manually open that door under the glove box?

Haynes manual suggests the 'doors' are vacuum operated.
This would mean a bellows at the door. Bellows may have a leak or hose unhooked/broken.
If all other positions work, I would check the offending door. I do not believe there is a water cutoff valve.

Step one, Is the compressor running. Now feel the line going into the evaporator. Is it cold? Is the line coming out of the evaporator cold? If not next step would be to check pressures.

FYI An overcharged system will not blow cold and it can damage the compressor.

IF you have too much freon in the system it will also not get cold enough. THe way the stuff works is it gets cold as it decompresses and the more it decompresses the colder it gets. If it cannot decomp enough it will not get cold enough.

I get customers in my store all the time complaining about adding more freon and now it does not work. Well DUh!! (I unfortunatly cant say that to them)
