Default Is 2000 a good price

My buddy knows a guy that does motor rebuilds for about 2000. That price is for the removal and reinstall of the motor. He says the motor will put out about 350 hp at the wheels. I want to know if it is a good idea. I not really looking for more hp right now i will be heading off to college and just want a motor with no leaks. I am going out of state to school and am driving my camaro down there. Thanks

Well seems good to me. 2000 for removal, rebuild more horsepower AND installation not tomention you will have a brand new motor.

Well my motor is still running but i notice some oil leaks. I have one small on up near the intake. Then a pretty big one down somewhere near the y pipe because it leaks on the pipe and smokes a lil I hate this and want to just go ahead and get ready for school I am going to talk to him and find out how i am getting this hp and see if you guys can tell me if it makes sense

wowowow... wait.. dont go rebuild your engine... just throw new gaskets on.... clean it up, find where the leak is and see if a new gasket will help before you spend 2 grand.

thus the reason i asked if his motor took a dump. 2 grand sounds too good to be true anyway. i'd make sure the guys knows what he's doing before i let someone take my motor

well i was thinking it aready has 126k on it and i dont want to get up to Pa and it break down. I guess the guy is pretty good my buddy had a 400 small block pushing 500 hp at the wheels built by him. They are good friend is why he is charging me less money But i will look at the leaks a lil more and see how hard they will be to replace

lt1's and small block chevy's are different. make sure he knows lt1's. and 126k isn't that bad for an lt1 yet. if he truly does good work and everything, 2 grand is a great price. find out how he's going to get you 350 at the wheels though
