Default Wiper Motor Problems

Has anyone had issues with the wiper motor on their car? My wipers rarely work. Sometimes they work but generally only if I have them on the high speed setting. They won’t work hardly at all on the intermittent settings. Sometimes wont work at all. It’s getting to be a major pain and I don’t know where to begin to try to repair it. Anyone have any ideas?

Chances are the motor itself is not the problem. However the motor assembly contains a circuit board that controls the intermittent operation which is known to have solder troubles like the BCM Modules. Check to see if you have power at the wiper connector and go from there. I've attached the wiper troubleshooting section from the 1994 Service Manual that may help.

Would that cause the wipers to not work at all sometimes??

A poor connection in the switch, bad circuit board in the motor or the bushes in the motor could be dirty or worn out and not making contact with armature. You're going to need to know if the switch getting power and working properly or the motor and it's circuit board at fault. I would start with using the wiring diagram and troubleshooting chart #1. The odds of the motor itself being bad is slim. The circuit board is a better bet.
