I have a 98 Z28 and i love it. however, the top is a convertible and it is going to need to be replaced next spring, i need to know a good site for a convertible top, and any advise from convertible owners on if i should replace it myself or not. that's it, i would ask about performance, but it'll beat any mustang on the road, and for those super charged cobra's, well i guess if you have to cheat to win, then i'll see you down the road sometime in my stock 2010 Z28, you might want to get twin turbo's for you mustang before hand.

anyway I was going to try to do one on my old fox body stang. that is until I recieved the top and was like "whoa, what the hell do I do now" so unless your really good with fabric.....

one thing I will say is look into fabric tops (not vinyl) they are soooooooooooo much nicer and right about the same price. never fade, never shrink, and never rip unless someone does it purposely. much easier upkeep as well.

think I got mine from world car tops.com or worldwide tops or something like that. it was about $450 and cost about 5 or 6 to have installed by a pro.

ummm, camaros came with a cloth top, not vinyl. ummm, yes they do tear. granted, its not as easy to tear, but it does happen with age. there's a couple places off ebay that sell tops for a pretty good price, but it depends on if you need the rear glass or not. keep in mind its not just the glass, its the part that the glass is actually tied in with. and unless you're a professional upholstery man, you DO NOT want to do this alone.

and what was with the mustang rant? seemed a little unnecessary for a topic about convertible tops

 

thank you both for the post on the top, it looks like i will be taking it to someone. and as for the mustang rants, well, my dad sold chevrolet for a long, long time, so i am very biased. but there are a couple mustangs out there that arent too bad.

 

well we're all biased being as we own camaros and are on a camaro website...but did you need to bring it up in here?

 

It seams as if you have a little crush on mustangs. i dont think it should be an issue to talk trash about a trashy car that is still sellin like hot cakes.

I have to agree the anti mustang rant was a little weird but yes I agree they suck and anyone who drives one is gay. Anyway, I had my top replace about 9 months ago. the shop I went to bought the top. unfortunately now I am not satisfied. the way the rear glass meets the top is weir and stretches to show a blck strip between the glass and the tan top. go to a quality shop that will be there months from now, and buy quality parts. inspect them before they start to put it on. A glass shop or a interior shop should do the job

 

didn't know camaros came with canvas tops. thats cool. 10 points for chevy.

and we're not all biased. I have one of each. theres +' and -'s for everything. I'm thinking about putting a picture of the stang in my sig though, confuse people. lol

 

You and me both. I have an 07 stang as my daily driver and the 95Z which I'm working on. If Chevy had a retro Camaro at the time i would have bought one. Ford beat everyone with the retro look thus I have one.
