1999 camaro Trunk Strut

I was wondering if anybody here knows how to change the trunk struts, as in the struts that hold up the hatch of the trunk. I bought the struts but I have no idea how to change them my self and was wondering if anyone here has some tips on doing it. Thanks.

Is it not a simple bolt off, then bolt on? I haven't looked at them recently.

It looks more complicated, but I do have to remove everything out of the trunk though right? aka the side speaker panels?

If the newer camaros are the same as the older 94-95 then no. You do have to get a socket in there by pulling the panel back a little but not much. You do have to remove the panels on the hatch. They come out pretty easy. Just pop the plastic pieces (not sure what they are called)out with a screw driver but be carefull you don't break them. Take your time. It's a pretty simple job and it took me less than a half hour.

just going over what u said. So i have to pull off the panel on the hatch, and pull back a little on the back seat side panels?

That is correct! Like I said if they are the same as the 94-95 hatch the yes. You just have to pull the panel on the side a little so you can get to the bolt that holds the strut on. Use a broom handle or a buddy to hold the rear hatch up while you do this. You should only have to remove the very last part of the paneling on the hatch to get to the bolt there. Two bolts off and two bolts on and waalaa! All done. Shouldn't take long at all and the rubber insulator piece on the end of the strutwill come off easy with a little pull but don't pull to hard or you'll rip it.Have fun
