1997 Camaro, LT1 5.7 - sluggish at slow speeds - Help!!
Maybe someone out there has an idea on my problem...
I have a 1997 Camaro, LT1 5.7. Automatic. 80K miles.
When the car is in drive, at slow speeds or even coasting without touching the gas, sometimes it acts very sluggish and almost feels like it may want to stall. Once you touch the gas, the car takes right off and drives fine. It seems to only do this at very slow speeds like when I am putting the car in the garage or coming out of a parking lot, etc.
Here is what is new and what I just replaced trying to figure this out.
New Fuel Filter
Less than 2000 miles on new delco plugs and new Jegs 8.5 wires.
new TB sensor.
I sprayed and cleaned out the TB air cleaner and removed / cleaned the MAP sensor.
New PCV valve.
Check engine light is not on and vehicle seems to drive fine at normal speeds.
Any ideas on what to check for or why this is happening? Could it just be symptoms of a bad fuel pump or crappy optispark system?

it appears there is no way for me to get to the iac valve/motor without removing the whole TB assembly because one of the torx bolts is at the bottom and there is no way to get to it.
Any ideas on how to remove the iac valve/motor without taking the whole TB off???

i have taken my tb off every time i have messed with the iac so its only a few minutes for me to take off. lol once i got all the tools that it takes figured out. allen wrench socket works great.

do I need to unhook any hoses or be aware of anything when I take the TB off? I have never removed it. I know I probably need a new moutning gasket to install it again but what abouit coolant lines and all that??

i have a bypass on my coolant lines, that may be one reason its so easy for me. you may get away with lifting it enough to get the iac out. yours is different than mine. i have a screw in one so you can probly tilt it enough to get to the screws.

You said it acts sluggish also at slow speeds. Have you determined that it happens only when your foot is off the gas pedal?
IAC=idle air control, and that circuit doesn't control the air flow when the throttle blade is opened.

I got the IAC off, cleaned it up, re-installed everything, car still acts the same.
I notice when I am pulling it in the garage and its in gear moving slow without my foot on the gas pedal, thats when I feel the sluggish almost hesitating thing happening.
Any other ideas on what to try?

have it scanned for trouble codes and see if anything comes up. your problem could one or more of several things. iac, spark plug, plug wire, opti, maf, fuel pressure regulator, coil, 02 sensors and whatever i forgot. your have obd2 so your parts store should be able to scann for ya. write the codes if any and let us know what they are.
