Default Locking me out of first gear?

hey guys, just wanted to know if you guys have experienced being locked out of first and also second gear once it gets bad. I was driving my car yesterday and the end of my trip included a little hill in traffic which caused me to feather my clutch and gas a ton. Once the car cooled down (I went to a Dodgers game, so after the game) I was able to drive it just fine but I’ve been dealing with this problem lately anybody have a solution?

Could be the issue with the hydraulic system, pressure plate or the shift linkage. Would be nice to know year and model transmission.

Sounds like a bent or worn shift fork inside the trans. If it goes in reverse the clutch is working fine.

I do understand and I am not surprised by it either.

As things get hot they change size. Since the trans is make of many different materials they grow and shrink at different rate. If something is worn it can be fine at room temp but not be good at 150 degs and vice versa. This can make a shaft seize or something bent get increase in size. Even the hosing itself is getting larger. Once the trans is a part the bend or binding wear marks should be obvious . Now that I think about it you could have some clearance in the front bearing on the counter shaft. That would effect 1st and 2nd and it would be the most effected area by heat from the clutch. You really want to get that checked out. If the front counter shaft bearing goes out completely fixing will cost as much as buying a new trans.
