1995 LT1 383 Exhaust Set Up?

If you're familiar with the LT1 exhaust set-up, you will notice that there is only one CAT which is welded on the Y-Pipe and clamped to the exhaust side.
Well I recently finished my project 383 LT1 Camaro and everything is great. With the exception of my gutted CAT which was spewing odors that were going into the cabin of the car.
Eventhough I knew I would be sacrificing power I went to my local muffler shop who said they can put another one on. They ended up putting on a Magno Flow (high flow) CAT for about $330.
Here's my issue.....After looking at the work the muffler shop did I noticed that the CAT is welded on both sides. Not only but it looks like a smaller size than before because you can see a reducer so that it can fit. I'm not sure if he cut corners by welding both sides and not using the the hanging clamp.
Your thoughts on going back to make a claim that the work wasn't done right.

He used a "universal" cat which is cheaper than a "made to fit" cat. That's not to say it's not doing the job it's supposed to though. If you're concerned, go back and get the make and model of the cat he used and look it up. It's not time to get bent out of shape and rake the guy over the coals yet.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. It's a bit concerning considering all the work that has gone into the car. If I ever need to disassemble the exhaust or headers it may be a problem getting the wiggle room.
I just wish he would've consulted me before chopping away at the exhaust.
