1994 with a carburated SBC??
 

Ok, My friend picked up a 94 v6 for $700. He ripped the 6 cylinder out and wants to put a carb. small block in it. What kind of problems are we going to run into? Will LT1 motor mounts work on an older style block? Has anyone on here done his before?

I think the older style blocks will fit onto the LT-1 mounts. I believe the LS-1 block is somewhat different, dont know for sure. Wait until pete or specter answer, they will know for sure.

The old SBC will mount up, but you're going to run into major clearance issues. The main problem is due to the fact that on the LT1 (SBC the car was equipt with) you have an optispark distributor, which sits on the front of the motor. The traditional SBC has a distributor that sits at the back of the motor. In the 4th gen Camaros the engine sits under a cowl at the rear, so there isn't much clearance. The car is also going to get confused because it has an electronically controlled transmission, and the engine you want to put into it isn't going to have any of the sensors the computer wants, yet you'll have to keep the computer around to shift the car. All in all you're better off swapping in an LT1 if you want a V8 and sticking with EFI, not to say that a carb cannot be done, but it's a lot of work. Swapping in an LS1 is possible, but you're going to need a full LS1 donor car for all the different parts/sensors as well as a new hood to accomodate the taller engine.
