Default 1993 upgrade suspension to z28

I was thinking of upgrading my 1993 stock 6 cyl camaro suspension to a stock z-28.

What parts do i need to look for in the yards?

(of course I would get brand new pads and rotors and calipers)
but what else would I need?

Is the sway bar the same? or the nuckles?

I dont think I can upgrade the struts since the wheight is different in the front.

also if i swapped out the rear to a disk is ther anything else i will need

I mainly want as little down time as possible and have everything in hand when I start.

all this for stopping cornering etc (so its more like my ws6. I can dream cant I? lol)

thanks for any help

the suspensions are not that much different between the 2 cars. The main differences are the sway bars, and the spring rates. If the Z car you are pulling parts off of has larger brakes then you will need to take the spindles. If you take the sway bars you will need to take the frame bushings and brackets.

As for the brakes in the rear as far as I know you will be able to drop the new diff in the car. If the new rear end has a different gear ratio you will need to have your computer reprogramed for the new gears. This not only effects your speedo but your antilock brakes as well. The proportioning valve and lines should be OK for your conversion, I have never heard of any issues with that. I dont know if you can keep your diff and use the backing plates and hardware from the donner car but if you can that keeps your correct gears in place.

The struts will not matter it is the springs that are different. The struts may have different dampening but the physical strut will be the same. I would replace them with some performance struts or Monroe Sensa-Trak.

what yr is the doner? does it have traction control? if not it should be a straight switch on the rearend. keep the guts. z28 has the posi rearend. what trans do you have? switching the speedo gears in the 93 is easy and only takes 45 minutes after getting the car in the air on the auto, not sure what it take to change the manual. pretty sure there are only a couple differences on the front like massey has said.

I dont have a doner car yet I was going to look around the you pullit yards. If they dont have one I will order parts that I need.

the 3.8 would not have the posi would it?
What if I do whitch to the z28 rear what happens to the traction control?
can it be just kept on?

I have the 3.8 and 5 speed

thanks

Im not into 3rd gen so I may be way off here, but wouldnt he be better just getting aftermarket struts, sway-bars, and a posi. Would it be easier, a lot better, and only a little more in cost.

93 is a 4th gen. You can get the 32mm hollow swaybar GM new off ebay for like 60 bucks. You want the bushing new. You will need to step up to a 98 to get brake upgrade. If you go that route you will need Spindles/Calipers/Brackets/Hoses. Using struts or spring from a u-pull it yard is a mistake. Also most u-pull it yards that have fbodies the cars have been picked clean. Anything worth anything gets striped and sold on ebay.
