Default 01 ss

Hey guys, I am lookin to sell my 2006 GTO and get an 01 SS convertible. I know this may seem crazy to the guys on my other forum (Gtoforum); but I have always LOVED the style of the 4th gens. I have a close friend that is selling his 01 SS convert. with 79K miles. He has owned it for the past 6 years and has only put 15K miles on it during that time. Always garage kept and covered. Never driven in the rain and all maint. done on time. Car is in exceptional condition. Only area of concern for me is there seems to be signs of Piston Slap. I have been doing a lot of research on the topic but I'm not overly concerned about it. Any guidance on what to look for in these cars or what is far price to pay, etc. would be greatly appreciated! I just hope you guys dont think im crazy for wanting to sell my Goat with 20K miles on it for an older camaro!

You will probably find that most of us won't think you're crazy.. after all we're kind of biased being that this is the 4th gen Camaro section. If it's what you want then do it. Oh and pics of the Camaro please. We like pictures here at CF.

I would offer him $10,000 for the SS. Thats a lot of miles on the car, in my opinion. Its not so crazy to me that you want to sell the GTO to get the SS. The 2006 GTO is a nice car and its fast, but the quarter mile times between the SS and the GTO are very similar. Before you do anything, make sure to figure out whats going on inside that engine. You could also pass and keep looking. I've seen Camaro SS's for sale for less than $12,000 with less miles than the one that you described.

There should a few pictures of the car. I appreciate the opinions so far. Should I be a little more concerned with the piston slap? I will probably take it down to my Chevy Dealer if I decide to go further with it, just to get it looked over.

is that Phantom Metallic? If so, I LOVE that color and someday want my Z28 that color.

Nice looking SS. Ebony leather = win. Just make sure to look further into the piston issue before you buy it. You don't want to end up paying top dollar then dumping a bunch of money into it. I'd make an offer based on how much it would cost to fix.. blue book value would likely be if the car doesn't need major work.
