Default WHERE CAN I BUY A 350 FOR MY RS?

I AM SICK OF MY SLOW-*** 97 RS, IS THERE ANY PLACE ONLINE I CAN BUY A 350 OR WOULD IT BE EASIER TO JUST GO TO JUNK YARDS LOOKING FOR A WRECKED 3RD GEN, V8?

If youcan find a 350 in a junk yard, or even a 3rd gen F-body, period - tell me which part of miracle-ville you live in and I'll fly right over, bro. The best source I've heard is crateengines.com or similar websites.

Aren't the 97's V6's? And if I'm not mistaken, the Fourth Gen RS's can kick a thirdgen's ***, royally.

Assuming you got a V6, it'll take quite a bit of work to drop a V8 in, find a donor. but Summit has some fairly cheap Crate motors. and so the the GM factory. Meh, I get there magazines, but forgot the Website. My bad!

If your rich, get an LS motor.

A regular small block has the distributor mounted in the back of the engine and you are goung to have a tough time making it fit in a 4th gen car. Look for an LS1 or an LT1, better yet sell the V6 carand buy a V8 car.

I didnt know 350s were getting that scarce, I could go to the a couple of local junk yards in PA and find them, most of the machine shops around here keep cores in stock. It would be a big undertaking though going from the v6 to the v8.

Could your V6 just be in a poor state of tune? Or you just want more power.
And lighten up. That sarcasm seemed to be put in a nice way.

Swapping a 3.8L to an LT1 (the 1997 factory v8 option) wouldn't be as tough as finding a pre-LT1 350 from the junkyuard that had guts in it...seriously, a 3.8L v6 would just about blow away most any 350 that came before 1990ish or so.

Well, that an the problem of fitting an engine with a distributor in the back of the block against a 4th Gen firewall....

The lt1 makes more sense I was just suprised how hard it is to find a 350, I could get one today if I needed one, I wonder if you could get a 350 to work with a crank trigger and a claw cap distrib $$, another problem though might be emmissions if you need to meet them. The lt1 or the old 350 would have more potential than the v6 though.
