ORIGINAL: 94Z28SHAKER

delorean didnt make the camaro, he came up with the fire bird/TA design, i have seen deloreans sell for around 6-7 grand, and they are ugly as hell. they are slow, and most people i know with them dont even drive them anymore, or have sold them due to the NON tang getting of the car, but otherwise go for it, if it dont work out you could take all the stainless and scrap it, lol.
i know he didnt make/invent the camaro, but he came up with the body design for the 93-02 camaro, trans am, and firebird 20 years before they even used it , thats what i was trying to say. im not getting it for speed either. well i think 140 mph for a little 2.8 v6 is pretty good i dont even think any v6 camaro can do that can they with a stock motor. and i bet the reason the people you know dont drive it any more is for the same reason you dont see alot of 67 camaros, GTO's on the road, that is because they want to keep the car in a low mileage and good body condition, not because they cant reach 180. and i bet the Deloreans that sell for around 6-7 grand are gonna need a ****load of work done to it . go to ebaymotors.com and see if you can buy a project Delorean for under 6000. i bet you cant do i t. but you cand find any camaro project you want for half that price.

Heres some PROJECT deloreans on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1981-...QQcmdZViewItem

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1988-...QQcmdZViewItem

thats a new project, probably will go for over 6k

John Delorean also came up with the slogan "Things go better with Coke"
And are the cars made with the kind of stainless that you can polish to a nice chrome shine?[8D]

he never did coke. what happpened was in 1982 The motor company was backed by the british government with over 150,000,000.00 of tax payer money and john Delorean said that he would need 25-50 million more to keep the company afloat. The british government backed out. So john Delorean was looking for other ways to make money for the company, later the US government entrapped him by sending agents to his home to try to get him to buy into trafficking cocaine which would get his company 10,000,000 which would keep him afloat. well 5 minutes into the conversation before mentioning the trafficking of cocaine, us agents come in there and arrest him. 2 years later he was found innocent, by the time he went back to ireland to the plant, it had shut down. no a man in houston texas bought out the remaining stock of the Delorean Motor Company from england for 45,000,000.00 and now runs the worlds largest Delorean restoration center. the only question i have is : if he takes all the parts and puts a Delorean together today, is it a 1981-83 or is it a 2006?

Restoration and assembly are two different things. If you buy a kit car of say a cobra in 2006 and build it it is a 2006. So you would have to meet 2006 epa standards and register it as a 2006. But if you have a 1982 delorean chassis and you put all new parts on it , it is still a 1982.

Ok I know this is late. But you being a senior member should know that this is like Going to a bar and calling your wife to say "Honey, I've traded you in for a redhead."

I fully understand your post. But it might be a bad example for some. I am not married but if I was and she was not a redhead I would trade here in the first chance I got.

I have no problem with trading in a loved one, it's just the fact of trading in a Camaro for something other than ___. And then telling a group of camaro fans about it. Should have just lied and said he kept it. I just hope the car found a great home.
