thats an old block isnt it. My former employer has a few of those and if i remember right it is a crank case breather. If you have the valve covers that came off that motor look and see if they have a hole for a PCV because I think they wont.

This is how the block came to me. I got a bunch of other part with the car, some useable, some not. This is the block (327 .030 over 1964 - 1969) that is going in the car when its done. I think it came out of an impala.

This is a pre PCV block, the can thing is a baffle for the draft tube that hung out the back of the engine and sucked out fumes and dripped oil on the road when the car moved. They also used a breather cap on the oil filler tube to ventilate the inside of the block.

The rust on the block is all surface, or so it apears. I am going to clean it up and have it looked atbefore I go and invest much into it.
