Default Transmission Issue...

Ok, I have an 86 IROC 305TPI stock. The transmission slips in the low rpm range of 3rd gear. If I shift thru the gears manually while getting on the gas it doesnt do it though. Before the gear started slipping it had erratic shifting behavior i.e. upshifting when it didnt seem like it should... Is this a possible torque converter problem or is the tranny shot? Or does it just need a fluid and filter change? Any help or comments are greatly appreciated!

If you're not good with transmissions, then why did you recommend switching to a TH350?

adjust the tv cable on the throttle body, it sounds like its out. its located on the drivers side, below the throttle cable. there is a brass colored D shaped peice of metal on the bracket. press that in, and slide the plastic peice inside that bracket rearward. then open the throttle all the way slowly to adjust it. please dont do it with the engine running, and dont use the gas pedal to adjust it. that could be the issue, but if you have driven it out of adjustment for a while, the trans is likely about to blow

the th700r4 is a better trans than the th350. its the same internals, but with more revisions to correct issues, and they threw in an overdrive to save on gas

Checked the D shaped peice of metal and it is still attached at the throttle body.
