Default Tranny cable

I just looked at my new to me camaro, under the hood. And saw that there was a paper clip holding the tranny cable to the TB. As I tried to pull it out, it would not go any furher then a could of inches. When I connected it to the TB,it would not let me open the TB all the way, only maybe a quarter of the way. Any ideas???? Have not been uned the car yet but will this weekend. Im assuming that this would also cause my tranny to not make up its mind on the highway. It does seem like it wants to either go up a gear or down a gear when accelerating, reving hi and low.

Wrong cable, mal-adjusted cable. That is, if your car is supposed to have a TV cable. What year car?

There is an adjustment on the TV cable. Looking at the end of the cable, it should have some notches, and what looks like a little button. Press down on the button, and the end should move in and out, pull it all the way out. Adjust the cable so it is at full extension with the throttle body at WOT, then drive it and adjust accordingly. Tighter will make it shift later and kick down easer, looser is the opposite.

Sorry I must have got into to much detail with this. Ive done all of that so far. Im wondering if it could just be binded or stuck, cause the throttle cable is pretty stiff as well.

Ok its the TV cable but will not come out all the way. Constrict the TB from opening up all the way, and also holds on to the gear way to long then chirps. Doesnt seem to be binding. Its free flowing. so what gives?? Wrong cable maybe?? But its all stock.

Sounds like your cable isn't self-adjusting, mine didn't want to either. Push in the "D" shaped button on the side of the cable housing bracket. Push, or pull the outer cable housing towards the firewall. Now the cable housing is supposed to ratchet back out as you open the throttle fully. Mine didn't want to move on it's own, and it would pull and tweak the throttle linkage arm. So I opened the throttle by hand while pulling the TV cable forward at the same time, and that way worked fine.
