First, it is a Limited Slip and NOT "posi".
Second, your car I am sure has a 2_series carrier which means buying parts is difficult.
Third, this type of work is most cases is NOT a DIY type of job in the backyard garage.
Fourth,
having this done by replacing parts or the whole axle assembly is going to cost in the range of $400 to $800 (only a guess and it is low).
Fifth, is this worth it just to to burnouts with a grocery getter type car.

Actually it IS posi because that was GMs "trade name" for a limited slip differential (Positraction).
And you can just buy an LSD from a junked car. Just check the RPO codes and I'm pretty sure the RPO for LSD is G80. Not sure where the codes are on your 3rd gen though. Check the glove box and inside the door jams.

Chevolet has NOT used the name Positraction since the 1960's. They now use the industry standard name "LIMITED SLIP" for a rear differential axle with traction to both wheels when needed.

are you really just asking what you need to do to make both wheels pull equally? if so then you are really just talking about a spool. they are cheap compared to real limited slip diffs but the downside is if you ever take turns (and most of us do driving on the street) , you are going to either wear out rear tires like they are going out of style or break teeth on your ring and pinion. unless you are making an all out drag car trailer queen it just isnt worth it. i'd suggest an auburn gear limited slip unit. or if you absolutely have to have both wheels turning equally for drag races but are ok with one wheel drive on the street you could go with an electric or air powered locker. they are expensive though.
