Default Plenum Tubes

I own a 1987 Iroc-z with cracked Plenum tubes. I was wondering if you knew of a site or possibly somewhere that I may be able to find the plenum tubes without having to modify anything.

I've been searching around, I can't find them in junk yards, and Chevy dealership said they were discontinued..all around I'm just having the worst of luck trying to fix this car. I keep getting told that if I can't find the same ones, I will either have to modify or put a new engine in.

If you could help in anyway possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to try to upload a photo, it isn't my car, but it shows what I need. It has those 4 there as you can see, but behind/below 2 of the tubes is a small tube which is cracked.

those are called runners, they are everywhere. check out ebay and craigslist. should be able to find them REALLY easy.

thats non-sense about getting a new engine.. why would they tell you to get a whole new engine when all you would possibly need to do is change the intake.. dont ask those people for advice anymore, sounds like they just want your money.

like GM said, no such thing as a new one from them. you can get aftermarket high flow as you have seen, but they are pricey

Wow, thank you so much.

Man, I really feel like an idiot! I couldn't figure out for the life of me why I couldn't find them. Maybe that's why nobody else replied..They probably just sat and laughed at my dumb *** lol.

I really appreciate it..I never really had the chance to learn about cars until I got this one, which is only my 2nd car. My first was a Honda, that thing never required any work but the basics to keep it maintained.

You'll be alright, are the runners cracked, you may need to replace the manifold as a set.

Yeah, one side of the runners are cracked. The other is fine, but I was just going to go ahead and buy both sides and have one for the back up.

What exactly do the high performance runners do? Are they more resistable to cracking? And if I got them, would I have to make any modifications? Also, just one last question..How would I know if the manifold would need replacing?

You could run propane around the intake whilst the engine is running, i dought that the intake has any problems, the plenums are quite tough.

propane?! are you nuts!? use like, PB blaster or something if your worried. but your manifold is probably fine..

as far as the HP runners.. the tubes are a bit bigger. so if you could take your time and port out the plenum AND manifold you would get the best out of them and no high pitched squeals from the air running over them.
