if you can find an ecm at a junkyard for a similar car, you can try it. most junkyards dont charge more than $40 for them (around here at least). pick one up as a just in case. if that doesnt fix the issue, then you know what isnt wrong and can continue looking. does the harness look like its every been cut into before, or if an aftermarket alarm was installed?

if something it needs is missing or dead it wont ever run good.you have melted wires and a flickering s.e.s.light.you have a wiring problem its shorting somewhere if i were you i would find it before you have a fire or cause more damage.you should probly buy a new front end wiring harness,or start buy removing yours until you find problem its not hard.first thing i do is take out all aftermarket wiring put it back to stock usally cures most or all problems.
