LT1 dies after warm up!...PLEASE HELP

i recently purchased a 95 z28...when i bought the car i was told it had a bad cap and rotor "opti"...the car would run approx 10 to 15 minutes or when the motor reached approx 180 degrees...So i've changed the cap and rotor while i was in there i had the mechanic change my timing gears and chain due to some stretching in the chain...he gets it all back together and it's doing the same thing runs for about 15 minutes or whenever the motor warms up and the engine completley dies and wont start for about an hour when it cools off?...i'm having him do a fuel pressure test in the morning 10/05...i've had some people mention the cam sensor, crank sensor,....i'm totally lost with this one and so is my mechanic...he's just going to keep digging till he finds it...so if anyone has any ideas please let me know....thx

There is no cam or crank sensors in your car. The opti does those functions. Is the check engine light lit??
Changing cap and rotor on a opti is usually waste of time, the whole unit should be changed.

no it's never came on...and he was thinking it might of been the ECM/ECU so i changed it today and it's still dying after it warms up

what else is part of the opti?....i'm new to the whole camaro scene

The optispark distributor, besides distributing the spark, provides all the clocking functions to the PCM. The PCM uses these inputs to control spark and injector timing.

you think it's possible that it might be a fuel prob?...he said something about it's not getting injector pulse also...but still no source of the prob?....thats what made hime think it might of been the ECM

when you say the opti has 2 parts when i took it off i guess i changed the whole thing i took it all the way down to the timing chain cover...is that the whole thing?

The electronics, including the optical stuff are iside the housing under the rotor.

The Injectors are pulsed (fired) by the PCM based on input from the Optispark.

yes everything in those pics have been changed on my car...

You need to get a scanner and see what the PCM is seeing when the engine dies.
