LT1 in 91 RS
I was wondering if it was even possible to put an LT1 from a 95 into my 91 RS. If so, what kinda mods am I looking at to get it to fit and run?

RE: LT1 in 91 RS

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
Ive never done ( i dont intend to) but from what i have heard on here, you have to change out all of the electrical system i.e: wiring harness/computers and all the sensors for the LT1 motor to your 91. as well as transmission lines, fuel lines and so on and so forth. your best bet is to find a wrecked 93-97 Z28 or WS6 trans-am and tranfer every thing from the donor car to your 91. but what your gonna hear most from everyone on here ( including me ) is just put a carbed 350 in there. it will provide just as much power for a cheaper price, and is easier to mod.all you have to do if put ina fuel pressure regulator for the carbed 350, no electrical modification at all. correct me any one if im wrong on this or add anthing in there as well.

or step up to a LS1

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
Will the LT1 bolt right in to the engine bay with the stock engine mounts? Or do you have to have a mount kit fabricated like you do for the LS1? I'm also thinking of putting an LT1 in my 3rd gen.

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
the LT1 uses standard SBC engine moounting. but you also have to consider the LT1's reverse cooling system. which is one morething you have to "engineer" while doing the conversion.

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
Any specific information on this? I know its been done before so certainly someone's documented how to accomplish this.

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
i've never done this conversion , but i have put a LT1 intake and heads on a TPI engine with good results , just take some fabrication and friends that own a machine shop.

RE: LT1 in 91 RS
ok guys, i found out not only is it possible, but lots of people have done it. and it doesnt take too much modification to get it done. check out thirdgen.org and youll find pretty much everything you need to know.
