KNock sensor?

Default KNock sensor?

Where is the knock sensor located?

Oh, yea, 1983 Berlinetta, 350,

How does the knock sensor work? it looks like a vacuum port?

I am looking at the Checker auto picture of it.

if it has one, which im not sure of, will be on the passenger side of the block. its round in shape and has a one wire plug. here is what it looks like. it works in a rather interesting way. i forget whats inside (i think its piezieolectric), but when there is a hard vibration, it produces a voltage and goes to the ecm to tell it that there is a knock and it retards the timing

that looks like the one I'm looking at.

I am looking the wire diagram and trying to find a wire that leads to it, but I do not know if there is even a place for it on an '83?

That would be OK, one less thing to worry about

Looks like your pan has a slight gash. You might want to shmear some silicone in there!

Looks like termites, or maybe a woodpecker, look at all those dings.....

OK, I have perused the wiring diagram thoroughly, I cannot find a place for a knock sensor.

One less thing....... (Forrest Gump)

Parts application guide shows your car had a knock sensor. But, since yours came with no more than a 305, the 350 is a transplant. If the 350 has a knock sensor, and you're still running the factory computerized distributor, you do still have something to worry about if it isn't hooked up....a crappy running engine.

i ran with mine unplugged and all that i got was a bit of a ping around 4500. however, that was the cylinder that let go (hence the hole). take a look in my photo album

This is my distributor, and it has vacuum advance.

Is it computer controlled?
