Ignition Key Stuck
Hey I have a 1992 Camero RS and can not get the key out of the ignition. I made sure the car is all the way in park and I have also even tried forcing the key to turn all the way back. Any ideas on what to do?

RE: Ignition Key Stuck
You are having all types of problems. First and most important. Camaro has 2 As' and no Es'.
Does your key not turn back all the way? There is a shifter interlock cable that comes from the shift lever to the ignition switch. Not the acctual lock itself but the switch located near the bottom of the column. The cable can be removed from the switch and it will work fine. It will be able to turn the key off while the car is in gear though. But I had to remove it when I installed a B&M shifter. |
RE: Ignition Key Stuck
There might be a little latch under the ignition switch, mash it down and try to turn the key.

RE: Ignition Key Stuck
He mentioned putting it in park so I assumed automatic and there is no lever on the auto columns

RE: Ignition Key Stuck
Ok, It was more of a guess anyways. I am thinking its an 'operator head space and timing' issue.

RE: Ignition Key Stuck
Operator head space? oh you were in the military! does,nt that have something to do with a technical term when disassembling a M-16 rifle? anyway the key issue, is the wheel tight to one side ? you know up against the wheel lock? try grabbing the wheel and turning it one way or the other, while trying to turn the key.
