Well ive always loved these cars including the later 90's firebirds and Camaro's, but these older irocz have always been in my mind. I was in hunt on a e36 bmw m3 for quite a while till i relized i couldnt afford it but i could afford a iroc and it was my first love anyway so im gonna set my sights on one.. But before i do.... I have some qeustions (ill bold them). Ive been looking at the years and the 89' IROC-Z looks to be the best. But i want the 350 but i want a manual also. Since the 350 dont come with manual i would want to swap it, or get a 305 and make it into a 350. Which of those would be the best choices? And what else should i know about these cars before i hop into one? I have about 2000 saved up and my truck can sell for about 2000 so i can afford to get one a fix up it nice over the summer
. And is the 89' the best or should i shoot for the 88 or 90? the only reason i wouldnt want a 90 is because of no t-tops but at 16, that would shoot my insurance in the foot, and they can leak. But the 90 does have a airbag which can ussually come in handy. And what is the difference between the trans-am and the IROC-Z besides the obvious different company part.?

I like the 89s the most (I think). The 1990 IROCS are a little more comphy but the gauges remind me of my Saturn too much.
I like autos better so I'm not the guy to ask about 5 speeds.
My current '89 is coming alongfine but if you play it right you can get these cars really cheap. For instance I have about $1600 in mine but if you count the parts car and extras I have sold off so farMy IROC is freeand it's almost ready for daily driver status.

i have driven the 350 auto and i have the 305HO and i think that the 305HO is a better choise. one because of the 5 speed and two i think it is alot faster stock. if i had to do it again i would go with what i have.
