Default Fuel filter

I have a 1989 Camaro RS convertible 305 5L V8 i believe (not 100% sure, used car it is a V8 though).I'm attempting to put in a new fuel filter but apparently i'm reallt stupid or there is not one there....I've called tons of people and ran circles around my gas tank...is it possible someone bypassed the fuel filter and its just a straight line to the engine? i bought the car from a car lot summer of 2010

thanks,
Lynx

filter should be under the car on the inside of the frame on the driver side, about even with where door handle is. just follow the fuel line up from the tank and youll come to it.

no it should be like half way to the front of the car on the inside of the frame on the driver side.

that looks like a pressure relief valve. if the evap does not relieve the pressure for some reason then the pressure relief valve will let any excessive pressure out. it should be strapped up along side the tank.
