emissions failure
hey whats going on? i have a 1985 iroc z; i failed emissions for hyrdocarbons . . my numbers were off the chart..i am going to change all the spark plugs to start. i was also reading up about the o2 sensor. from forum to forum a lot of ppl have failed inspection because of that..but i want to check the computer, how can i do that myself without purchasing the stupid kit. i know i am being cheap, but who the hell cares if there is a way around that..also, is there more than one o2 sensor? before and after the catalycit converter? any help, suggestions, whatever you have is appreciated..thank you.

RE: emissions failure
If the check engine lite is lit you can flash the codes, beat them against a chart an see what the complaint is about.
High hydrocarbons means that there is a lot of raw fuel in the exhaust. The cause could be anything from a misfire, fuel delivery problem, to a bad cat converter. |
